Frequently Asked Service Questions
. If one of your questions is not addressed here, please ask a tech and we will be in contact with you shortly.

  • Is my vehicle still covered under factory warranty? Depending on what is being repaired, the length of the factory warranty varies.  A "bumper-to-bumper" is typically the shortest warranty period but covers everything outside of scheduled maintenance.  A usually longer powertrain warranty covers engine and transmission defects.  In order to determine if a repair is covered you need to know the date the vehicle was first put into service, the current mileage on the vehicle and the component that needs replacement.

  • Is changing my oil important? Yes, changing your engine's oil and filter is one of the most vital maintenance procedures possible.  Oil keeps friction down in the engine and prevents the motor from seizing up.

  • Do I need to make a service appointment to have my oil changed? No, there is no appointment necessary for many maintenance services that we offer such as; tire rotation or replacement, brakes, belts, filter replacements, wipers, batteries, fluid changes and spark plug replacement

  • How often should I change my oil?  Typically recommended intervals for new cars are 5,000 miles.  Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for your specific recommendation.

  • Why should I rotate my tires? One of the biggest causes of premature tire wear is because the tires are not rotated.  You should have your tires rotated every 5,000 miles.  Also, periodically checking and setting tire pressures to the proper PSI will not only extend tire life but also increase fuel economy.

  • How often should I expect to replace my brake pads? Brake life depends heavily on driving style.  Lots of stressful braking will significantly shorten the life.  Brake inspections are recommended every 15,000 miles.

  • Why has my "service engine soon" light come on? This could be an indication that one of the many sensors or computerized components is not functioning properly and needs to be looked at.  However, if you've just left the gas station it could be that the fuel cap is not secured tightly.  Check the fuel cap first, if that is loose, secure the cap. If the light continues to illuminate you'll need to take the vehicle in for a diagnosis.
